Ian “Dano” Rogerson is a successful broadcaster, program maker and writer. He works across a section of media organisations his most recent being Jono and Dano to over 700,000 Australians on 28 radio stations across the country.
He is the creative consultant and spokesperson for Autism Awareness- www.autismawareness.com.au – a National non-for profit organisation. Ian originally leapt into radio at the ABC’S enfant terrible 2JJ in 1980, later JJJ with the advent of FM Radio. He presented almost every shift on the station. With his friend Jono Coleman as Jono and Dano they established themselves as a radio and television comedy team for the rest of the decade. From JJJ’s breakfast show to number one in consecutive Sydney surveys on Triple M nights, 2SM Breakfast and Melbourne’s Triple M they romped across Australia’s airwaves for many years. They also hosted four highly individual national television shows on the 7 Network. Sadly when the then Federal Government outlawed tax free lunches the boys went their separate ways but still meet for coffee. Ian was then invited back to the JJJ again enticed by the idea of helping to set up a fully-fledged National Network. He went on to host Hard Coffee with Debbie Spillane. It was a program that launched Triple J into the top ratings spot in Sydney drive time and subsequently established a huge national audience. Ian was the voice of the Cannes’s film festival award winning short film The Swinger and in 1999 he produced and hosted Dessert Island Video’s for Foxtel. The show was a celebrity interview series filmed on location in America and shown throughout Australia and South East Asia. He was the face of Visa cards Olympic campaign, helped set up Big Fat Radio one of the first Internet radio stations in Australia, hosted the Seven Network’s All Star Squares and has consulted to Foxtel’s Channel V on its re-branding strategies. Over the years Ian has interviewed stars like Paul McCartney, Whoopi Goldberg, Keith Richards, Nicole Kidman, Russel Crowe. John Cleese and many others. Overseas bands from Led Zeppelin to The Violent Femmes and most of Australia’s music, acting and political fraternity.
